Defying The Odds Navigating the New Year with Your True Self Intact: A Listicle

"There Ain't No Changing Me...I Can Only Be Me." or whatever Genuine said...Welcome to a brand-new year, full of possibilities and opportunities to grow, evolve and thrive in our authentic selves! Often when the New Year strikes plans are made to create a whole new life, persona, existence if you may. While growth and change are pivotal, staying true to our core can be just as important. It's what grounds us when life takes its twist and turns. Knowing who we are and standing firm in that is what allows us to have our unique components of who we are for the perfect recipe to set us apart from the next. As we usher in the new year, it's the perfect time to revisit our personal goals, aspirations, and most importantly, our purpose so we don't have no dry ass obituaries (LOL.)

But seriously, our purpose is more than just a career milestone. It could be as simple as cultivating peace, or creating beauty. It's a deeply individual and subjective concept, woven into the fabric of who we are, and it can immensely enhance the quality of our life if we're living in tune with it.

So, how do we remain true to ourselves and our purpose while navigating the ebbs and flows of life? Here's a three-step guide to get you started:

1. Sense of Self: It's not just about indulging in bubble baths and rapping "I'm a Bad Bitch" anthems in the car (although we love those!), but more about recognizing our inherent worth and treating ourselves accordingly. It involves investing time and effort in maintaining our physical, mental, and emotional health and taking regular breaks to rejuvenate. Yes, sometimes, it might also mean saying no to social obligations or stepping back from draining relationships. Remember, you can't pour from an empty cup!

2. "I Don't Give A F***" Development: It encompasses a wide range of activities that help us grow emotionally, intellectually, spiritually and socially. Whether it's reading self-help books, becoming Stevie Wonder to the Bullshit, practicing mindfulness, learning new skills  or facing rejection head on and learning to  persist through life anyway, these activities can significantly improve our self-esteem, resilience, productivity, and overall life satisfaction.

3. Owning Your Shit: It's normal for even the most confident and accomplished among us to struggle with life's many challenges and uncertainties. The key lies in cultivating a positive mindset, seeking support when needed, and learning from our past experiences. Celebrate your achievements, large or small, but also, don't shy away from acknowledging your fears and vulnerabilities. Like Missy said " Nobody's Perfect Babe." You're a human, after all!

As millennials, we're privileged to have a multitude of resources at our disposal. Through this blog, we aim to create a supportive, empowering and inclusive community for all of you. This year, let's strive to create a life that resonates with our core values and beliefs while remaining the same Ol' G. Here's to a year of living authentically and fearlessly!

Tap into your unique potential. Let's embrace who we truly are, unapologetically and wholeheartedly. After all, there's only one you in this world, and that's your superpower.
